My Shattered Stained-Glass Soul I will lead blind Israel down a new path, guiding them along an unfamiliar way. I will brighten the darkness before them. —Isaiah 42:16

I was taking a stained-glass workshop at a time when my family fell in pieces around me. After tracing a pattern on colored glass, my wrists rolled outward to snap the pieces scored by a sharp, well-oiled cutter. Razor-sharp edges sliced my fingers. I cried. The pieces of my yet-unformed project represented my stained-glass story: the transparency of shattered dreams and the fragility of life. Against all my hopes and spiritual beliefs, I was thrust into the role of solo mom with a nursing infant and an angry, hurting preschooler. Like molten flux flowing into the joints of a stained-glass frame, burning agony poured into every fiber of my being. Depression descended upon my soul. Out of a heart of darkness, I opened the window of my shattered soul to Jehovah Ori, The Lord is my Light. I was blinded by torment, but the light of God’s Word inched me forward, away from the tribulation of the past. Through faith in the true light, Jesus filled the deepest cracks in the broken window of my soul with His love.

Jehovah Rapha be praised—the restorer of my shattered soul. Jehovah provided light in the darkness and comfort in despair.

God loves to shine His light in our souls when we call out to Him. — Scoti Springfield Domeij —
