Thanks to a Vet But encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near. —Hebrews 10:25

As a teacher at a Bible college, I always find it a delight to encourage and support students during their graduation ceremonies, and it is one of the few things my husband, the mountain man, will don a suit coat to attend. During one graduation banquet, a student was talking with me when I saw a young man approach my husband. “Are you Cat Cathcart?” he asked. Cat nodded. “Someone told me you are a Vietnam vet.” Arms folded tight across his chest, Cat nodded again. The young man leaned in close to my husband, and the two men talked quietly for several minutes. Soon, I saw rare tears form in my husband’s eyes. Then the two men exchanged a strong man’s embrace. Later, I learned that the young man was one of the last babies to be airlifted out of Saigon. He was the first person to thank Cat for his service to his country. Ever since that experience, I’ve sent thanks to every vet I know on Veterans Day.

Give thanks to people who are serving or have served you in some way. — Sandy Cathcart —
