Spiritual Wisdom I pray for you constantly, asking God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to give you spiritual wisdom. —Ephesians 1:16–17
I needed wisdom. My mother was now in assisted living to the tune of $65,000 a year. I was far away in the Midwest where my wife and I were having our own financial issues. I thought if my mom’s estate could pay, our family could move to Maryland and take care of Mom in a house that would meet her needs and ours. I was about to tell my brother and sister of this great plan, but decided I should discuss it with my wife first. She said, “They won’t like you telling them this will solve our money problems, and they will feel pushed into it. Also, it will take a lot more to care for your mom than you’ve ever dealt with.” I prayed some more and realized my wife had given me wisdom I didn’t have. When you need wisdom from God, sometimes He will speak himself. At other times He will speak through others who love you like He does.
Always seek the wisdom of those who love you. They may have just the right word for your situation. — Jerry Hamilton —
