I Want It All Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever. —Psalm 107:1
Every year in November, a toy store flyer we call “the book” arrives in our mailbox. When my son was three, my husband handed him the flyer, and Edson spent the next half hour lying on the floor gazing at each page. After considerable deliberation, he stood, handed the one hundred pages of glossy toy ads to his father, and said, “I want it all.” We laughed, but I started thinking. I give my son gifts because I love him and it warms my heart when he expresses sincere thanks. How often do I tell God “I want it all” without being grateful for what He’s already given me? Now when I ask my heavenly Father for something, I picture my son with the toy store flyer, and I stop to say thank you first.
