Surely You Repay Unfailing love, O Lord, is yours. Surely you repay all people according to what they have done. —Psalm 62:12
This Friday we’ll have a pizza party for the kids to celebrate great behavior,” my daughter’s teacher announced. While my daughter cheered at the news, I sympathized with the teacher. I knew they had no classroom budget for pizza and pop. The money for the children’s party was doubtless coming out of her own pocket. “Pay for part of it,” a voice inside me nudged. “Show her you appreciate her and care by paying for the drinks.” While paying for drinks wasn’t much, it’s still a lot when you wonder how you’re going to pay the bills. My husband and I were self-employed and the recession had hit us hard. I’d just finished my last major contract. We were in big trouble. But I obediently sent money to the teacher. That night my husband went to a meeting and at the last minute took some product to sell. Usually he didn’t make sales at that meeting, but he decided to take the materials just in case. You guessed it; the materials sold. He brought home ten times the amount I’d given the teacher.
When we sacrifice to show that we care, God often repays what we’ve given. — Jenni Davenport —
