Love That Knows No Borders Never stop praying. —1 Thessalonians 5:17
After preparing a care package for an unknown little girl in an unknown country, my eight-year-old daughter began to pray fervently for its recipient. “Please help my box get there safely. Please help the one who will get my box and bless her family.” Jessica prayed. And prayed. And prayed. For more than a year-and-a-half, every night. In exasperation and unkindness, Jessica’s older brother finally told her, “I think your box has made it there. You can stop praying now.” But Jeb Daniel didn’t understand the love that God had given Jessica for a little girl she had never met. Less than a week later, Jessica received in the mail a torn letter on blue stationery. The only word we recognized amongst the foreign symbols was India. But we could see the beautiful face of a precious little girl in a photograph. As only God could arrange, a church friend who had grown up in India read the letter to Jessica, word for word. It was worth the wait. And the prayers.
I want to love the unknowns like Jessica, for they are not unknown to God. — Julie Lavender —
