God’s Plan “ For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “ They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” —Jeremiah 29:11
When I was eight years old, I was admitted to the hospital with a kidney infection. My memories are sketchy, but they directed my life. While I was in the children’s ward, the nurse I had wasn’t very nice. She was angry that I wet the bed. She put the rails up on my bed and left me: wet, lonely, and scared. My family gave me several coloring books and paper dolls to keep me entertained. The nurse gave some of them away to others, saying I had too many. She didn’t even ask, but just did it. That’s when I decided in my heart to become a nurse so that I could be nice to my patients. I did go on to become a nurse. When I had trouble and wanted to quit, I remembered why I was there. It was in training that I found Christ through one of my instructors whose life portrayed Him. I wanted the peace and love I saw reflected in her face and actions.
When trouble comes, and it will, remember God has a plan. — Kay E. Combs —
