My To-Do List This is my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you. —John 15:12
With my neatly penned to-do list, I was ready for my day! Until my phone rang. My motherin-law wanted to know how the kids were. I cut the call short, because my to-do list was long. She sounded a little down, but talking on the phone wasn’t on my agenda. I promised to bring everyone over to see her soon. I quickly moved to the next item on my list. The doorbell rang. Oh no! It was my friend Shelly with tears streaming down her face as she poured out her marriage problems. I tried very hard not to look at the clock—or my organizer—too often. Finally she left. I rushed to complete my list. Two more delays. My neighbor asked me to feed her cats while she left town to help her sister who had cancer. Then I turned to see my daughter in tears. Her best friend told her they weren’t friends anymore. I felt the pressure to finish my list. The last item was prayer. Bowing my head, I thanked God for letting me complete my list. All the hurting people I encountered came to mind. “Lord, please send someone to help comfort these people.”
I did came a quiet thought. I sent you.
