Lawn-Care Blessing When you see these things, your heart will rejoice. You will flourish like the grass! Everyone will see the Lord’s hand of blessing on his servants. —Isaiah 66:14
The large corner lot that drew my husband and me to our home now looked more like a jungle than a residential lawn. How was I going to take care of my nine-month-old son and cut the lawn since my husband’s sudden death? All at once, the rumbling sound of a lawn mower filled my ears. I ran to the front door. A college-aged neighbor who owned a small landscaping business was mowing my lawn. He had been working across the street the day my husband died and knew what had happened. I stepped onto the porch. “Thank you so much. I would like to pay you, but . . .” “I don’t want any money. And I’ll cut your grass for the rest of the summer.” I blinked back tears. “I don’t know what to say.” “Don’t say anything. I want to do this.” Years later, I still think about that unexpected lawn-care blessing. God knew my needs and provided before I could even ask.
