Reaching Out They share freely and give generously to those in need. Their good deeds will be remembered forever. They will have influence and honor. —Psalm 112:9

It had been a long and tiring day at work, and I longed to get home, have a hot bath, and make dinner. The traffic was dense so I decided to take a shortcut through a narrow lane. I came upon some huts where a woman and child were eating what looked like stale bread. After I got home, I called a friend, Reena, and we took some food to them, as well as clean clothes, bars of soap, and rice, flour, and vegetables. “These people need mosquito nets. And thick plastic sheets to cover the tops of their huts from the rain,” Reena said. “There are so many with so many needs . . . how many can we help?” I voiced my concern. That weekend we returned with some mosquito nets. I was wondering if our offerings made any difference, but my friend pointed out, “Better something than nothing.”

We can’t meet all the needs, but we can meet some of them. — Sudha Khristmukti —
