Fresh Clothes, Fresh Perspective Most important of all, continue to show deep love for each other, for love covers a multitude of sins. —1 Peter 4:8
It was day three of my hospital stay with our sick daughter. My clothes were feeling saggy and uncomfortable. What a relief it was when my husband walked into the hospital room with a Walmart bag stuffed with an outfit that didn’t match and clean underwear. Fresh flowers and chocolates could not have communicated his commitment to me any better than that pair of clean underwear. This was our third trip to the hospital in two months. Friends didn’t stop by anymore to offer comfort. They had families of their own to care for. In the past, they had always been there for me when I felt like my husband wasn’t. But this time my friends didn’t make sure I had dinner every night, a toothbrush, and fresh clothes. My husband did. It doesn’t sound like much, but his provision in those basics was the beginning of a renewed trust and passion for him.
Sometimes love is best communicated in quiet service to one another. — Jennifer C. Hoggatt —
