A Reason to Pray Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere. —Ephesians 6:18
While visiting my neighbor Linda, I realized that every time she hears sirens, she stops what she’s doing and prays for the injured person, family members, emergency workers, and hospital staff. One day when my husband and I were out shopping, I heard an ambulance in the distance. I thought of Linda’s example and began to pray. “Father, be with the person injured and their family members. Meet their needs. Protect. Heal. Keep them from being afraid.” Soon after we got home, the phone rang. It was Pauline, the mother of our daughter, Libby’s, boyfriend. “Jean, I don’t want you to worry. Libby is okay, but . . .” Pauline went on to say that our sixteen-year-old daughter was injured in a car wreck earlier that afternoon near the mall where I heard the ambulance. The person I had prayed for had turned out to be my own daughter, and our family.
Loving others means praying, even if we never know how needed and valuable our prayers are. — Jean Davis —
