Thank You, God, for Mr. Wrong And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. —Romans 8:28
Mr. Very Wrong was manipulative and mean, but I was so dazzled by his charm and grand romantic gestures, I stayed in the relationship for two years. Afterward, I struggled with many questions. Why had I allowed him into my life? Why hadn’t God opened my eyes sooner? Would I be foolish enough to make this mistake again? I didn’t know it, but God was already blessing me. When I met my Mr. Right, he was different. He didn’t make grand gestures; he made quiet ones. Keeping my car running well replaced extravagant gifts. Helping me build the garden of my dreams replaced buying a dozen roses. Cooking and doing the dishes together so we could stay within our budgets replaced fancy dinners out. Mr. Right took care of me in ways I would have taken for granted had I not known Mr. Very Wrong. Grand gestures no longer impress me—real love does.
God can use any situation for our good. — Cynthia Owens —
