He’s Watching The eyes of the Lord watch over those who do right; his ears are open to their cries for help. —Psalm 34:15
What?” my son asked when he looked up and saw me watching him. I smiled and shook my head. “Nothing.” He went back to his task and I kept watching. Soon he looked up again. “What?” he asked. “What did I do wrong?” “Nothing. I just like watching you,” I said. “You’re cute. And I love you so much.” Different verses in the Bible tell us that God’s eyes are on us. I used to feel uncomfortable to think of God watching me. Waiting for me to slip up and fail, I assumed. Then I heard entertainer Mark Lowry talk about God’s eyes being on us—but not because He is like the traffic cop waiting to catch us doing something wrong. Instead, He loves us so much that He can’t keep His eyes off of us. God is proud of us, fascinated with us, and probably even thinks we’re cute. So now, when I think of His eyes on me, I think of the way I love to watch my kids. And I just smile.
