Knock, Knock, Who’s There? It is a sin to belittle one’s neighbor; blessed are those who help the poor. —Proverbs 14:21

Danny lives under the bridge next to my home. No, he’s not a troll. He’s my neighbor and he is homeless. He knocked on my door a few weeks after I moved in and introduced himself: “I’m Danny and I live under the bridge.” I was caught off guard and unsure how to respond. I sensed that I had offended him by my demeanor. Months passed, and Danny was on my mind a lot, especially when it was cold. I decided to go apologize to him and take him a Christmas present. He invited me into his humble abode under the 293 Highway bridge, and we laughed and became friends. A few days later, he knocked on my door again. He shared that he had gone to the local church and met the Lord. He had come to invite me to his baptism, which I attended. Danny still lives under the bridge, he is still my friend, but he is no longer homeless. He has been adopted into God’s kingdom.

Even at our front doors God will use us to draw others to Him. — Vince Byrd —
