What Love Does So you see, faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless. —James 2:17
I only had a few errands to run after church before I could enjoy a restful Sunday afternoon. As I shifted my car into reverse, an awful shaking told me that this day was going to be anything but restful. I prayed all the way to the repair shop, hoping it was something simple, not a huge headache with an even bigger repair bill. The mechanic explained the problem and my options. At best, it was a $500 repair. At worst, I’d need a $2,000 transmission. For me, one of the more burdensome aspects of being a single woman is bearing life’s responsibilities alone. As I stood there considering the situation, I felt the full weight. I decided to call my uncle for advice. Well-versed in cars, he told me to take the car home. He volunteered to drive up the next day and make the repairs. I thanked him and apologized for having to bother him. “It’s never a bother, dear,” he said. “That’s what love does.”
Love won’t allow you to bear burdens alone. — Tina Givens —
